I finally found it!!!

Well my dilemma has be fixed. I could not remember my username and password for my blog. One of those senior moments that I have every now and then. I can guarantee it won't happen again as I have started a book on all my user names and passwords. I have always tried to use the same passwords and user names but then I get to a site where the user name has been taken and that's when I usually find myself forgetting which one belongs to which account.

Now I can get this thing updated but not tonight it's too late. Check back soon!

Time has sure gone by fast, but so many things have happened in our life together.

Some good, some not so good, but what ever challenges we have been faced with, we have been able to overcome them. I guess that means we must make a pretty good team.

The Final Card

This is the result of my polished stone technique card that I, somewhat, cased off of SCS.

Paper- NQ Navy, Bashful Blue, & White Cardstock. Glossy White.

Inks- NQ Navy, Bashful Blue and Silver

Stamps - Too Terrific Tags, & Wonderful Words

Ribbon- SU Bluebird grosgrain, & Navy(NN)grosgrain.

Card Swap #2 Completed

This is my 2nd card for the SCS swap. I used Bravo Burgundy, Sage Shadow and Cream (no name brand) cardstock. The inks are Sage Shadow and Bravo Burgundy. The Stamps are Petal Prints(one of my favorites), and I used Bravo Burgundy grosgrain ribbon for the embellishment. The technique is Cracked Glass using Versamark and Glassy Glaze and the heat gun. I left the bottom blank so a sentiment of their choice could be stamped at a later time.

A Productive and.....

Well the weekend started off with me completing one set of 3 card swaps that I am in on Splitcoast Stampers. I spent Friday afternoon in the trailer at the track completing this card. The stamp set is Winged Things and the wheel that I used for the background is Wings & Things. Inks are Basic Black and Certainly Celery. Cardstock is Almost Amethyst and Certainly Celery. Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon is attached with a paperclip. I watercolored the dragonfly and the used Micro Pearl Pearl-Ex mixed with Future floor polish on the dragonfly's wings. Hope you all like it. Friday evening Bob and I went to Karen's to pick up my SU order. To my surprise Joe has an old antique tractor that Bob started drooling over. I had a hard time to separate him and Joe so we cold get back to the track to get a fire going and some washer toss games started. Joe and Bob made plans to get together and start restoring the old metal monster. I guess maybe Karen and I will have to make plans to stamp or scrapbook.

Saturday we had our race and we did very well with a 2nd place in our heat, a 1st place in the Dash, and a 2nd place podium finish in the feature. What a great night for Brian!!

......Destructive Weekend

Sunday, Bob had to go to work but Brian decided to race at Riverglade Speedway in Salisbury. So I jumped in the truck with a couple of friends and away we went. The races began at 2pm and we had hopes of being back to Geary by 8pm and then we would have a quick BBQ supper before we packed up to head home. You should never make plans to do anything, because Mother Nature can sure ruin them. We had 2 down pours of rain which held racing up close to 2 hours. Brian had a good run in the time trials placing 5th out of 28 cars. He then went on to Victory Lane by winning his heat. The feature race did not start till close to 6:30pm and

approx. 30 laps into the race car #41 driven by Mike Rodgers blew his motor and dumped fluid all over the track causing a 6 car pile up....and I mean a pile up as you can see in the photo. Brian was involved but his damage was minimal compared to 3 other cars which are now basically junk. The car in the middle of the pile driven by Ronnie Lane caught fire and things got pretty tense....all drivers got out of their cars and all were fine. The top car in the pile was driven by Mike Kyle and the bottom car was Billy Sommerville. Brian's car is just behind them. He missed adding to the pile but he hit the cement wall with a good force. The 2 other cars are in front of the pile.

Above is a picture of the damage Brian received to his right wheel and unfortunately it put him out of the race. The top 3 finishers in the race were Josh Jaillait, Gary Hicks and Lonnie Sommerville. Lonnie drove an impressive race. The race got over about 10:30 pm and we arrived back at the track in Geary about 11:45 pm. It was good to get into my bed and relieve the excitement of the weekend.

Haven't had much news lately......

The last couple of racing weekends have been pretty uneventful.....placing in the top 10 each time but would really like to see Brian get a podium finish. I know it would make my weekend as well as his. we have had a good race car but he seems to get blocked in an unfortunately you just can't run over the car in front of you or the one beside you. I know the big win is coming soon so I'll just have to wait it out. On a more positive note we are currently 3rd in the points for the championship and a win would boost us up a notch or two. Unforunately the Martin's Home Heating Sportsman 125 race was not completed last weekend due to rain so we will be finishing that race in the middle of August.

As normal the washerboard games continue till 4am sunnday morning for those with enough fuel.....like alcohol.....to keep going.

Last weekend I took my neices to spend the night on Friday. They are 4 & 6 and boy did I forget how much activity they can produce. I was worn out but we had a good time roasting marshmallows by the fire and they enjoyed the cart races on Saturday morning. I am going to try to get them out to the races again before September.

Well it's Friday again and soon I will be going to Geary for my weekend get away, but in order to do that, I have to get my butt away from the computer and get things packed. We are not racing this weekend as it is our mid-season break and a lot of the racers go to Oxford Maine for a race down there. We are thinking we may head to Shediac tomorrow evening for their races......all depends on the weather and if we can get others to tag along with us. It's more fun when you go in a group, although it takes a long time to decide just where to eat supper.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and gets lots of stamping and scrapbooking done....I am lugging all my stamping gear with me to finish up my card swaps. I hope to post the cards on Monday....check back!

STAMPING WITHDRAWAL

Well this is one of the products of tonight. Karen did not have Stampin Thursdays so Alicia, Eleanor, Jessica and I got together at my house to stamp and get cards ready for card swap...This is cased from last year's Stampin' Up catalogue with a few minor changes. Unfortunately I did not use SU cardstock as I was just goofing around....had lots of excitement...heat gun started smoking and looked like it was going to catch fire so in the garbage it went....now I have to get another one. Also, we had a visitor show up at my door wanting me to call her a cab...she looked bad...Alicia was freaking!!! So while waiting for the cab to come...this strange lady with a glass eye and bruises on her face separated from me by a screen door and a growling dog....we got a visit from the police van.Then another police car arrived.....omg!!!... this lady had just robbed a camper at the Bucket Club..There's a lot more to the story so ask me sometime you see me.

Brian MacNaughton Racing

Our 2006 racing season began in May. The Gahan Team decided to run the Maritime Prostock Tour traveling around the Maritimes racing, but Bob and I decided that we were satisfied just spending our summer at NBIS. Bob was approached by several drivers to help out mechanically on their team. One of those drivers was Brian MacNaughton from Lower Coverdale which is near Riverview, New Brunswick. Bob decided to help Brian through the racing season.

So far we have had no wins but a lot of top 10 finishes. I help out on the Saturdays that I don't work by timiing laps for Brian during practise, but when the actual race begins you can usually find me in the Bud section of the stands watching the race........and "NO, I am not drinking beer"!!

I enjoy it there because I can take my own chair and sit in the shade between the bleachers and as well there are not a lot of people running back and forth in front of me while I'm trying to watch the race. Nothing irritates me more than trying to watch a race and have people stand in front of me to have a little chit chat....or kids running up and down the bleachers.

We have missed 2 weekends of racing due to rain so we will probably still be racing in mid October. I am hoping for the rest of the summer to be beautiful on the weekends, as by mid October the air begins to get a little chilly.

I will be keeping our winnings posted here and any excitiment from the track on a weekly basis so check back. We have also taking up a new sport at the track called washerboard. Terry and Bob (from Moncton) were the winners of the washerboard tournament 2 weekends ago. I am not counting on winning any tournaments but it sure is fun. "Got to keep practising". For anyone not familiar with washerboard...the object of the game is to throw a washer (metal discs not washing machines...lol) into a hole and score points for the team, if the washer goes in the hole. There are 3 holes in the board and the holes have values of 1, 3, & 5. The trick is not to go over 21 or you get points taken away....so many times we have been at 20 only to be set backward because we got a 3 or a 5. Sometimes I think the more beverages you consume the better you get, but that's my theory.

GAHAN RACING

We started racing in May of 2002 with the Gahan Racing Team at NBIS, which is the fastest short track in Canada and it is located in the Geary Woods in Geary, New Brunswick. We raced in the Sportsman Division in 2002 and claimed "Rookie of the Year".I was the chief cook for the team and each week we would BBQ in our pit with a huge supply of chicken and later on steaks and sausages that were donated by The Victory Meat Market. In 2003 we continued to race in that division, but in 2004 the driver/owner, Paul Gahan decided he wanted more speed, so we moved up a division to the Prostock class. My main job now was spotter, that is the person who has the communication with the driver and tries to keep him out of trouble. Sometimes things happen so fast on the track that keeping your driver out of trouble is next to impossible. A spotter has to be quick thinking and calm at all times.In 2005, we continued in the Prostock class and had a trying year. We took our trailer to the track and soon made NBIS our weekend home. We have great food, good fun and lots of relaxation. We have made many friends there.

As you can see I am a big Jimmie Johnson fan. I am really looking forward to seeing him win the Nextel Cup this year as he has come so close the last two years. As they say the third time is a charm so I hope the old adage is true. Good Luck Jimmie!!
